Goldilock's Secret Recipes Now Out in a Cookbook!

Every Filipino knows Goldilocks, not only as the storybook character, but as the bakeshop that sells cakes for all occasions. In fact, even balikbayans, like my relatives, would always buy pasalubong from Goldilocks for their friends and loved ones abroad every time they leave the Philippines.

All these years, Goldilocks' signature bakeshop favorites have been part of Filipino families' celebrations. A lot of us are probably very familiar with the taste of the fluffy mamon, cheesy ensaymada, ever-soft chiffon cake slices, the classic polvoron, mocha roll, chewy brownies, and more.

Yesterday, I finally got to hear the story how Goldilocks began. The first store was put up along Pasong Tamo, Makati in May 1966 by sisters Milagros and Clarita along with their sister-in-law Doris. All three shared a passion for baking, cake-decorating, and cooking. They developed each recipe and built the company to what it is today.

To celebrate 45 years of Goldilicious goodness, the founders created a new chapter in its legacy by coming up with the Goldilocks Bakebook -- a way of honoring their past while establishing a heritage for the future.

The book features a collection of 108 recipes. It took seven years in the making, endless kitchen-testing, along with the efforts of a dedicated team that aimed to pass on a priceless legacy to loyal Goldilocks customers.

This fitting tribute to Mrs. Milagros Yee and Mrs. Clarito Go was envisioned by Freddie Go, Sr., Goldilocks' Chairman of the Board. The two ladies are the ones who tirelessly pursued to perfect each Goldilocks product.
