In the Philippines, we have the kind of weather that mostly shifts between hot and wet, which is a formula for bacteria to thrive on various surfaces. One good example I could think of are stinky shoes that result from perspiring feet even when people wear socks. Another are dishwashing sponges that breed bacteria when left on the moist side of the sink.
Hygiene Science Inc. (HSI), is a company that claims to offer NASA-level, high-grade, food-safe, broad-spectrum microbe shields for hand, surface, and textile disinfection for home, office, hospital, and industrial use. Their goal is to help people go beyond clean through the latest technologies in the science of protection in human and animal health. They make use of scientific techniques that reduces the labor cost of sanitation with longer-lasting protection against viral, fungal, bacterial, and mold exposures.
One of HSI's products is Hygiene PRO, a clear and colorless antimicrobial solution that is safe for use with people, animals, and plants. It can be safely applied on a wide variety of surfaces and materials like fabrics, carpet, upholstery, drapes, linen, wood, plastics, stone, porcelain, and metals.
Applying Hygiene PRO to surfaces is described to produce an invisible, transparent, and durable antimicrobial film that will not transfer on contact with other surfaces. The solution is also non-leaching when it comes into contact with water or solvents. It is non-volatile, odorless, colorless, and produces no chemical vapors.
According to the brochure I was given, just wipe over or spray Hygiene PRO on surfaces and let dry. Since the product bonds to surfaces, it will keep killing bacteria, viruses, mold, algae, fungi, and protozoa for weeks, even months, with a single application. You can use it on cellphones, tables, faucets, toilets, kitchens, bags, shoes, carpets, drapes, aircon, undies and scrub suits, playpen, and furniture.
Another product from HSI is Hygiene24, a broad spectrum anti-microbial hand shield that promises to kill germs and give all-day protection with just a single application. The brochure says upon application, Hygiene24 users can use it in the morning and forget about germ contamination for the rest of the day. Makers say that Hygiene24 is the only product that offers protection for up to 10 hand washings (yes, this also made me raise my eyebrows) after just one application without the dryness, redness, chapping, and flaking effects of alcohol and other disinfectants.
Honestly, it's hard for me to just accept everything I read from HSI's brochure and website as fact. I'll need a few more weeks to prove to myself how effective the products are. I'd like to find more ways of trying out Hygiene PRO and Hygiene24 longer so I can't write a review yet. One of these days, I'd also appreciate seeing a demonstration or even a video/TVC that shows how the product actually works and how effective it really is.
But, I'm sharing these information with you, dear readers, in case you have been looking for something that might work for your family, especially if you have loved ones who are very prone to allergies, or suffer from other illnesses that require a sanitized environment all the time.
HSI provides a Hygiene Misting Service that they recommended done at least twice a year to protect your place against microbes that cause odor, allergies, and infectious diseases.
