For the longest time, Filipinos think of rice meals when lunch or dinner is mentioned. Nowadays though, more and more Pinoys become open to the idea that you can have a good sandwich and already consider it a complete meal.
Indulge in a new kind of dining experience at Cheesesteaks, Burgers & Drinks (CBD) located at the Ayala Triangle in Makati City. There, you could order a whole sandwich for yourself and already feel full. CBD’s cheesesteaks and burgers are fully-packed with lots of delicious filling.
CBD Cheeseburger – P160 |
When I ate there with fellow bloggers, we had to divide the sandwiches into four just so we could have a taste of everything served on our table. We happily savored the burst of flavors in every delicious bite.
Bacon Cheesesteak Sandwich - P325 |
I loved the London Blue Cheeseburger made with blue cheese, bacon strips, and ranch dressing. It has the right blend of flavors that make up a great sandwich.

And since I eat anything with mushrooms, I also tried the Mushroom Cheesesteak Sandwich. Yum!

I also got to taste the other sandwiches my companions ordered; the photos of which are also included in this blog post.
CBD Double Patty Burger – P235 (made with handmade ¼ lb. pure beef patty x 2 + cheddar) |
Chef Chiloy Santos revealed that they only use US meat. “Our burger patties are handmade, contain pure beef, and have no extenders.” If you really insist on eating rice, CBD has something called Manila Special where customers can request rice instead of buns. They also have rice meals priced at P195 each and served with coleslaw. Choices include Hickory Smoked Beef Brisket, Grilled Chicken Steak, and Pure Beef Burger Steak.
CBD Buffalo Chicken Strips – P190 (6 pieces), P285 (10 pieces) |
Aside from the sandwiches, we were served some delicious CBD Buffalo Chicken Strips made with chicken strips + crispy coating + spicy sauce + ranch dressing. You also have the option to order the Naked Chicken Strips without the sauce. What’s great about these dishes is that the chicken strips are crunchy on the outside but moist and juicy inside. I’m sure this will be a blockbuster with my kids (chicken lovers all) when I bring them to CBD soon.

Now, what’s a good sandwich without a nice beverage? CBD offers the oh-so-sinful Shake & Bake drinks made with milkshake and your favorite cake blended together. Chef Chiloy, who developed the drinks, calls them “milkshake on steroids”. He shared that this is his way of reinventing the regular milkshake and told us that each glass contains four scoops of ice cream! Talk about calories!
I got the Blueberry Cheesecake Shake & Bake and it was heaven at first sip. Chef Chiloy said this drink is made with vanilla ice cream, cream cheese, blueberry filling, graham crust, and whipping cream. Other flavors include Apple Pie, Banana Cream Pie, Chocolate Fudge, Vanilla Peanut Butter Toffee, and Strawberry Short Cake. Soon, he plans to also concoct flavors like Red Velvet Cake, Smores, and Mango Tart. CBD moreover serves imported and local beers and sell the local ones at P35 per bottle from 4-7pm daily.
CBD is open from 11am – 10pm every day. They have free WiFi so get ready to post photos on Twitter or Facebook when you eat there to let your friends know what they are missing :)

Hi Ms. Ruth, thanks for letting me know what I am missing. I heard my friend went there and she really enjoyed the food and urge me to go there next time. I'll try the burger you love and the shake and bake. It's very original. Never heard of it before and it's something that shouldn't be missed.
Btw, I am searching the net about the taxes and duties for air parcel on post office and I read your article about it on "Para sa Pinoy". I read on your comments that you wrote to the media. I just want to ask lang po if you were able to get an answer or at least came up with the reason why do they imposed high amount of taxes. Thanks :)
Hi Sey, thanks for reading! Yes, visit CBD and check out the many flavors :)
Sadly, my taxes-for-parcels issue remained a blog post. I tried contacting a couple of TV shows that feature such things but never got any feedback. Until now, I have no idea how those blasted taxes are computed. I also don't know if, or when, the government would finally sanction those kinds of corrupt post office personnel :S
