A Southern Festival Experience in NUVALI

After being introduced to the very interesting evo-living concept in Nuvali recently during the opening of I Love Earth weekends, several blogger friends and I were invited to visit again to, this time, experience celebrating the vibrant life in the south.

Alveo Land held a weekend festivity dubbed "Walk on the Southside: The Alveo Southside Street Fair" at Nuvali's Evo Living Center. This is to celebrate the distinct Southern Living experience in its three Southside developments -- Verdana Homes Mamplasan, Treveia NUVALI, and Venare NUVALI.

The inspiration for the event came from the list of grand and colorful festivities in the South such as San Pablo City's Coconut Festival and Mayflower Festival, Pagsanjan's Bangkero Festival, Liliw's Gat Tayaw Tsinelas Festival, Calauan's Pinya Festival, and Sta. Cruz's Keso Festival.

Southern communities were represented by various activities. Guests had the option to create their own mini landscape or learn the art of pottery making. The artisan who demoed how to make a bowl made it look so easy although we knew it took him a lot of practice to perfect this kind of art.

We also witnessed a demonstration of making kesong puti (white cheese) using fresh goat's milk which tasted really good!

Kids and kids-at-heart were delighted by a dog show where several canines exhibited amazing talents. Some dogs danced, another jumped hoops, and a very intelligent dog even barked the right answers to addition equations!

For the mind and body, Ms. Maricar Sumulong and Yoga Philippines Director Joseph De Asis demonstrated some yoga positions that looked very hard to do. How I wish I could be as flexible! Read more about yoga and get tips from this very informative site: Shiva School of Meditation and Yoga. They even offer courses through Skype! How amazing is that?!

"Life in the South is truly an amazing experience," according to Mr. Anton Sanchez III, Division Manager for Project Development. He expounds that this is a vibrant mix of culture, lush landscapes, and active living in line with their goal of providing Alveo's homebuyers with everything they want and need within their reach. "Not only is this in keeping with Alveo Land's thrust to create innovative living solutions, but more importantly, it will also promote urban development within the Southside and NUVALI communities.

Sanchez adds that the continuous integration of business, lifestyle and recreation hubs into Mamplasan and NUVALI will give Alveo residents long-term benefits that reach into the future. Alveo's three thriving communities - Verdana, Treveia and Venare - each possesses distinct characteristics that create their own brand of comfortable, intimate community life in the south.

Before we left the fun and stimulating street fair, we were given a wind chime and a small block of kesong puti each, and got to bring home several packs of yummy southern delicacies such as buko pie, espasol, pastillas, etc.
