Enjoy Carless Sundays at Filinvest City Alabang

I love living in the South of Metro Manila. Although it takes us time, a lot of traffic, and toll fees to reach places like Makati or Ortigas, I always feel happy to be going home. Here, life may not be necessarily as laid back as we'd like it to be but my husband and I still try to make it as such.

How? We allot time for activities we enjoy doing! Thankfully, there are many areas in Alabang where those are possible. For instance, we have our established practice running route near Palms Country Club and there are so many dining places here, such as River Park, where we could do food trips with the family.

This past Sunday, hubby and I dropped by Filinvest City Alabang to join other physical fitness enthusiasts usher in Carless Sundays. Weekends, after all, should be devoted to relaxing and enjoying carefree moments without the traffic jams and pressures of work. The good news is, residents and visitors can freely roam around certain areas where people are encouraged to do stuff that do not involve driving any cars.

Find harmony in a laid-back and natural setting surrounded by parks and walkways! Filinvest City is a sprawling 244-hectare property committed to embracing and promoting greener lifestyles while offering wide open spaces where anyone can safely enjoy outdoor activities. According to Dolly Macam, Senior Business Development Manager, major roads like Commerce Avenue, Corporate Avenue, Parkway, and Filinvest Avenue will be closed from 5AM to 10AM every Sunday so people can walk, run, play, jog, or bike to their heart's content.

Regine leading the Zumba session
For those who've got rhythm, there are free Zumba sessions that start at 6AM. Last Sunday, Regine Tolentino was on hand to lead a very enthusiastic crowd. Make sure to tag friends along when you join the next fun sessions and sweat it out to upbeat music!

As to bike enthusiasts like my husband and sons, it's time to re-discover the newly improved Filinvest City bike trail that has routes especially created by the community's frequent bikers. If you also want to try out the unique Bambike (bamboo bike), which will be up for rent again on June 5 and July 3, 2016.

Every Sunday, free football clinics for all ages will be available onsite. You can likewise catch the Flag Football PH team practice on the field. Too, active kids and kids-at-heart would love checking out the obstacle course, which is open daily.

“Carless Sundays is just a start towards our long term goal of creating an experiental and engaging city,” says Don Ubaldo, senior assistant vice president and project head of Filinvest City. He added that bike lanes and canopied sidewalks will also be established soon to further develop the area into a seamless and integrated community where people can easily move around from one development to another either by foot, bike, or public transport.
