Pro Earth Run 2015 Encourages Everyone to Make Every Day a Pro Earth Day

Like my husband and the rest of our family, I am very conscious about my carbon footprints. We believe that if we all do our part, no matter how small, we can help save the environment. At home, we have been practicing proper waste segregation for more than a decade now. As a result, we only bring out a lot less the thrash than many of our neighbors do when the garbage collectors pass by. As much as possible, we also try to encourage other people to do the same.

yup, gotta stop and take a selfie once in a while :)
Last Saturday, hubby and I joined 5,000 other Earth advocates in Pro Earth Run 2015 at the SM Mall of Asia Grounds in Pasay City. We enjoyed and finished the 5k category running side by side that early morning. Because the bibs didn't have timing chips, I used my Runtastic app to record our time and I was glad to have finished the route in 46:55. What made me doubly happy was earning my third finisher's medal, yay!

Protect, Respect, and Oversee Mother Earth
This advocacy run of Earth Day Network Philippines Inc. (EDNPI) was supported by government, corporate, academic, religious, and other allied environmental advocacy institutions. EDNPI President Isagani Serrano shared, "Over the past 15 years, Earth Day Network Philippines has been encouraging people to celebrate Earth Day every day.” And we should! Seriously!

Bresilda Gervacio, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Officer in Charge and Assistant Secretary for Human Resource Development and Information Systems, pointed out the importance of protecting Mother Earth by citing the benefits she gives to people. “It is the place where we live, we work, and we play. So we need to sustain its resources. With self-discipline, we can make a difference,” she said while addressing the huge crowd of runners that was composed of students, employees, government and business leaders, and even expats.
