It's been said time and again that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And isn't it wonderful to wake up in the morning knowing you'll have a good meal to start the day, right? After all, mornings are usually equated to fresh starts and new beginnings that's enough to fill one with optimism for better things to come.
This May, let Italianni's start your day right with new dishes that have been added up to its already extensive breakfast menu made up of around 40 international, gourmet, and Filipino fare. These new fares are served with free coffee daily from 7AM to 10:30AM in Italianni's Bonifacio High Street and Greenbelt 2 branches.
Be prepared to savor some of the delicious gourmet dishes especially crafted by Bistro Group's award-winning corporate Chef Josh Boutwood. I attest that he makes some of the most delicate and delectable puff pastries and scrumptious omelettes in Metro Manila!
Chef Josh's puff pastries have light crusts and satisfying fillings. The mouth-watering stuffing choices include Prosciutto and Dill Potatoes (where the puff pastry basket is filled with a poached egg, topped with dill potatoes, cherry tomatoes, and premium prosciutto ham) and Pancetta and Sundried Tomatoes (with poached egg topped with sundried tomato and pancetta hollandaise).
Those who love chicken would like the Chicken Caesar (with poached egg topped with fresh cut romaine lettuce, grilled chicken, and parmesan cheese). All these are guaranteed to start your day on a upbeat note. And speaking of lettuce, I was very happy to know that Italianni's sources its greens from Costales Nature Farms in Majayjay, Laguna. I've been there before and know how meticulous they are in growing delicious and healthy organic vegetables.
Aside from the puff pastries, the omelettes are heavenly! Packed with protein, fat, nutrients, and flavor, these egg dishes come with stuffing such as choice meats, diced vegetables, and cheese. One of my new favorites from the omelette selections is the Shitake Mushroom and Bacon (Applewood smoked bacon with shitake mushrooms and mozzarella cheese). I think I can eat two servings of this in one sitting!
Then theres the Hearty Seafood (cream dory and fresh calamari mixed with bell peppers, wrapped in a squid ink omelette), which is quite unique in appearance and taste. I can't affirm that I like it 100 percent, but it tastes fine. Maybe one just needs to get used to eating a different shade of egg dish :)
If you're a health buff, you might want to order Avocado and Spinach that has shitake mushrooms and kesong puti wrapped in pesto omelette. Meat lovers, on the other hand, could go all-in with the special Italianni's Omelette that is a hearty mix of Bolognaise, Italian sausage, and chorizo with cheddar and parmesan, wrapped in a mustard omelette. This is too rich for me but I am positive that my boys would go for it in a blink!
Aside from the puff pastries and omelettes, there are also a variety of fluffy and delicate crepes as well as Continental Specials that will make for light but hearty meals. Choices range from fiber-packed oatmeal to waffles, Spam, and eggs Benedict given the Filipino adobo twist.
Want something sweet? Chef Josh's Buttermilk Pancakes will satisfy your cravings. These come in Banana and Walnuts, Chocolate and Orange, and the Classic Blueberry, all served with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream and a free cup of coffee. Those with huge appetites can go for combinations of pancakes, bacon, sausage, veal bratwurst and French toast, plus eggs available in American, Western, Pancake, and Sausage Platters.
Of course, local favorites and well-loved Pinoy breakfast items can also be ordered from Italianni's. There's premium beef slices cured old-style in Primera Tapa, a rich combination of spicy tuyo, longganisa, and corned beef in the Filipino Platter, and Sinful Champorado cooked in dark and white chocolate served with salted anchovies. Salivating now? :p
