AXE Philippines to Launch the First Filipino Into Space

Most of us like watching movies where people get to travel outside the Earth. After all, space travel has always been the stuff of science fiction. But now, to celebrate the global launch of a new fragrance called AXE Apollo, several lucky individuals will get to have an experience that’s literally out of this world.

AXE Philippines announced, during a media event last January 10 at Whitespace, Pasong Tamo Extension, that it is partnering with a space travel agency called Space Expedition Corporation (SXC) and XCOR Aerospace to launch people to space!

Although people have already been to space since Yuri Gagarin orbited the Earth in a spacecraft in 1961 and hundreds more have followed suit, the thing is, we don’t belong in the roster of the 528 listed space travelers.

So, what’s really exciting about this project, which AXE is calling the AXE Apollo Space Academy (AASA), is that they could be sending anyone. Yup, untrained civilians who totally have no business floating around in zero gravity will get a chance to be real astronauts! And, get this, since the plan is to send one person from every AXE country on Earth to space, AXE Philippines will be making history by making sure there would be a Pinoy astronaut, the very first one, in that journey.

Asked why the fragrance brand decided to make this possible, AXE Philippines Brand Manager Gem Laforteza announced, “We offer two tips to getting girls to notice you: smell awesome all the time and be a freaking astronaut.” Hmmm, sounds like those are very good reasons!
