Team James and Team Phil Reveal Roster for Clear Dream Match Final Battle

It has been three years since the friendly Younghusband rivalry started at the first ever CLEAR Philippines Dream Match.  Football fans who kept updated with these games know that Phil Younghusband's team won in 2012 while James Younghusband's team won last year.

This coming June 7, the biggest football all-star game in the country will finally settle who holds Clear supremacy between the siblings. Clear Dream Match 3, aside from being the final battle, will be graced with the presence of Manchester United Legends Paul Scholes and Andy Cole.

Last April 30, after weeks of voting and competitive team campaigning, Team James and Team Phil rosters were officially decided at an event held at Hyve in Bonifacio Global City. The 50-player voting pool, consisting of top ranked United Football League players chosen based on more than 700,000 votes, was trimmed down to 30 and drafted by the team captains.

James and Phil with Drew
Drew Capuyoc, Clear Brand Manager, stated that with both teams tied at 1-1, the competition between the brothers is the most intense it has ever been. "Both teams have been actively campaigning on social media just to rally their fans to vote which team will have the first draft pick."

Like last year's formula, the first draft pick was determined by fans who, since March 10, have tirelessly supported their favorite teams through digital participation. The number one, most digitally active fan, will get the chance to fly to Old Trafford to watch a Manchester United game live!

This year's Clear Dream Match draft has four rounds. With more than 2 million points online, Team Phil was awarded the first draft pick before James and Phil took turns in choosing their top five players. The second round involved the amateur selection. With the help of co-captains Nate Burkey and Carlie De Murga, the teams selected their picks from the top 6 amateurs.

In the third round, James and Phil drew lots to complete their roster. Then, in the last round, the brothers had wild card picks, which meant they could select any player either within, or outside, the voting pool. To stir things up, Team James was given an extra wild card pick for being last year's winner.

Fans are encouraged to keep voting online until May 25 because the team with the highest points by May 26 will have the privilege of choosing the Manchester United legend they want on their team.

With the teams set, the battle for Clear Supremacy inches closer to completion. Make sure to be there on June 7 at the University of Makati football grounds. Tickets are available via SM Ticket outlets.
