CLEAR Philippines Holds First-Ever Dream Match

Edit, Aug. 16: Team James and Team Phil are now revealed here!

In 2008, Steve Nash initiated the Showdown in Chinatown set in Roosevelt Park on the Lower East Side of New York, USA. In a nation dominated by more popular sports like American Football, Baseball, and Basketball, an 8-aside pick-up game of Football for charity was not expected to raise the type of buzz that it did. Surprisingly, so popular has the event been, it was held annually from then on.

The Showdown in Chinatown showcased the sports prowess of popular athletes such as Theirry Henry, Claudio Reyna, Tony Parker, Adrian Mutu, Baron Davis, Guideppe Rossie, and Patrick Veira.

Here in the Philippines, the country's football stars will also go head to head as a match for the ages, where athletes from different fields would come together in the name of Football and charity. Professional Football players, college athletes, celebrities, and even fans are set to play in what has been dubbed the "field of dreams". It was called such for a reason because with a field, a ball, and a little imagination, anything can happen!

In light of the growing popularity of Football in the country, CLEAR Philippines celebrates the sport with the nation's first-ever CLEAR Dream Match. It's the first of its kind and will feature some of the best United Football League (UFL) players, members of the Philippine Azkals, some of the best college players in the country, and Footballing celebrities.

Not surprisingly, chosen to lead the two Dream Teams are CLEAR's very own endorsers Phil and James Younghusband. The friendly rivalry is on!

James shared during a recently-held press con that an all-star game is something that he has always wanted to do in the Philippines. His brother, Phil, observed, "Being able to mount such an event just goes to show how much Football has grown in the Philippines."

Staring June 25, 2012, Football fans are encouraged to vote for their favorite players into the Dream Teams. CLEAR has recruited a pool of 50 players which include UFL stars Anton del Rosario, Nate Burkey, Freddy Gonzales, Eric Dagroh; College stars Patrickk Deyto (DLSU), Miko Mabanag (ADMU), and Shirmar Felongco (UST); Kaya F.C. and Guam national team member Jonah Romero; Philippine Volcanoes' Andrew Wolff and Eric Tai; Brazilian models and members of Socceroo F.C. Daniel Matsunaga and Fabio Ide; celebrity host Paolo Bediones; members of Boys Night Out, and other outstanding players in the local Football scene.

Vote for your bets via CLEAR's Facebook fan page. The top 40 will then be drafted by Phil and James for their respected Dream Teams on August 11. The much awaited Dream Match game will happen on August 25, 2012 at the University of Makati.

Aside from providing fans a Football spectacle, the event is also for the benefit of the Tuloy sa Don Bosco Foundation, the organization known for sending a Football team to the Homeless World Cup.

"The CLEAR Dream Match is the first of its kind," affirmed John Imperial, CLEAR Brand Manager. "Some of the best Football players in the scene playing in one game -- it's going to be an amazing show and truly a game for the history books."

Thus, the road to the Dream begins ... Start voting now!
