Yesterday, ASUS unveiled its newest technological breakthrough in TAICHI, a sleek and stylish Ultrabook™ with an innovative back-to-back dual-screen design. Simply put, it is a laptop/netbook/notebook and tablet in one! The design is really impressive and I couldn't help listing it down among my Christmas wish lists :) (Dreaming is free!)
TAICHI features a powerful Intel® Core™ quad-core processor and two back-to-back Full HD screens for sharing information in exciting new ways. All these are encased in a slender profile that tapers to a mere 3mm and weighs just 1.25kg.
I got to try the TAICHI myself for a few minutes and it really is amazing. The unique dual-display design and stunning black-mirror finish combines the best features of both multi-touch tablet and Ultrabook™. Switching between the two screens is done just by pressing a tile on the keyboard. With the lid open, TAICHI is a powerful Ultrabook™ with a Full HD screen, backlit keyboard, and large multi-touch touchpad for making light work of demanding productivity tasks. When you close the lid, TAICHI becomes a lightweight tablet with a Full HD multi-touch screen, for easy and intuitive use on the move.
The back-to-back dual-screens can be used both simultaneously and independently for exciting new ways to share information, enjoy multimedia and work with apps. Imagine watching a presentation or movie without any problem because you can view it whether you're in front of the laptop or behind it! This removes the need for a bulky projector or clumsy external display. The IPS display technology also ensures a brilliant image on both screens, with extremely accurate colour reproduction and 178° wide viewing angle for outstanding clarity.
