Festival Supermall's River Park Officially Opens with a Light and Sound Show & Celebrity Performances

My husband and I are often in Festival Supermall because it is where we regularly shop for groceries and most of the stuff we need at home. But it was my first time yesterday to cross the road behind the main mall to go to the recently opened River Park, the newest recreation and dining cluster in Filinvest City, and I was surprised to discover how beautiful it is!

Behind commercial establishments lies a flowing river and a wide expanse of grounds where people can enjoy the cool wind and admire the multicolored lights decorating trees and bushes around the area. A magical Christmas is certainly in the air at River Park because visitors get a visual and auditory treat from the Light and Sound Show featuring 200,000 twinkling lights blinking to the tempo of nostalgic Yuletide carols aside from the popular Let it Go from the movie Frozen.

With a sprawling 2,300-square meter area, River Park is the best place to spend the Yuletide season in because it offers a variety gastronomic treats including hot ramen at Asahikawa Ramen Bangaichi; tapas buffet at Chef's Barrel and Mug; fresh seafood fare at Market Basket; meat and breads at Mati's; and coffee at Starbucks. Opening soon are Bizu Patisserie; Rice Paper, a Vietnamese resto; Hog's Breath Cafe, an Australian steak house; Planet Grapes; and Red, an all-dining and bar concept resto.

Kundirana
It was a treat to listen to performances by the young men of Kundirana who rendered upbeat songs to everyone's delight. It's nice to find out that the popular group is still around albeit with new members.

I didn't know that Ballet Philippines would be performing so it was an unexpected but very welcome treat for me to once again see them perform excerpts from Cinderella, their most recent show at the CCP that earned praises from those who've seen it. You can read my own review of that wonderful show, here.

Ballet Philippines' Cinderella
Another music artist who had us glued to our seats despite the light rain was Rachel Alejandro. Her powerful voice drew crowds as we all listened to and enjoyed her songs. She even got requests for an encore and she obliged by singing "Mr. Kupido" the very first single she recorded 25 years ago.

Do visit River Park, especially this December, so you and your loved ones could also enjoy the light and sound show every 30 minutes from 6PM to 9PM until the 30th, as well as the fireworks that will light up the night skies and performances by acoustic king Jimmy Bondoc on December 21 and MYMP on December 28. Plan to bring your kids for a Christmas Characters Meet and Greet on December 27.

River Park comprises the first phase of Festival Supermall's massive expansion, which is set to be completed towards the end of 2015. This premier development in Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa is the only mall with five anchor stores: Shopwise Supercenter, SaveMore, Robinsons Department Store, Ace Hardware, and Handyman. It has over 700 shops, a total of 2,300 multilevel parking slots, various food outlets, and indoor amusement rides.
