Cartoon Network's Ben 10 Encourages Kids to Become Everyday Heroes

Adults should be reminded again and again that kids learn better when they are having fun. Cable channel Cartoon Network recognizes that and made sure to incorporate fun in teaching students safety awareness through the Ben 10 Hero Academy.

The Academy is an activities-based crash course where kids can learn to act wisely in potentially dangerous scenarios with Ben 10-inspired, easy-to-learn tips. The program was brought to Metro Manila schools from July to September 2014.

Nicole Schneiderjohn, Marketing Director of Turner International Asia-Pacific, operator of Cartoon Network Asia, described, "The Ben 10 Hero Academy takes after the spirit of the hugely popular Ben 10: Omniverse series. In using characters like Ben Tennyson, Bloxx, and Rook to communicate valuable lessons on safety, we're able to empower kids in their daily lives through fun and adventure."

I was part of the Cartoon Network team that visited the De La Salle Zobel school in Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa last Monday and saw for myself how first to fourth grade students enthusiastically joined games and other dynamic activities about Fire Safety, Earthquake Preparedness, Crime Prevention, and Road Safety. I think they listened most attentively when Ronald McDonald was the one sharing safety tips :)

It was evident how many of the kids really love Ben 10 because I saw several of them sporting bags featuring the popular cartoon character. Not surprisingly, even I and my fellow mom, J.R., couldn't help but also have our photos taken with Ben 10 when he came out to greet the children.

The morning was well spent on fun and learning, indeed. I applaud Cartoon Network for coming up with this kind of activity because it is never too early to teach kids about practical stuff that they will surely be able to use for a lifetime.

Cartoon Network's Ben 10 Hero Academy is co-sponsored by Boom, Toy Kingdom, Zest-O, Milk-O, Choc-O, and Seven Seas. Patron sponsors are Jack n' Jill Knots, Jack n' Jill Wiggles, Lipps, McDonald's, Del Monte, Topps, and Rebisco Wafer Time.
