JobStreet.com, the pioneer in online recruitment in the Philippines, commits to reaching more Filipino jobseekers in 2013. Guided by its mission of improving lives through better careers, JobStreet.com will be holding carer fairs in 8 key cities nationwide starting in Manila this summer. Proponents believe that these events will reach more and and more Filipinos and link them with the job of their dreams.
Grace Colet, JobStreet.com's country manager, shared, "We will open the career fair series via JobStreet.com Career Fair on April 1 and 2 at SMX Convention Center, Pasay City. We will then bring the event to the provinces -- in Laguna, Cavite, Pampanga, Bacolod, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao."
Over the years, JobStreet.com has been known to hold the biggest career fair series in the country. In 2012, there were 22,000 jobseekers who flocked to the events held in Manila, Cebu, and Davao. On estimate, the 2013 Manila leg alone is projected to draw around 30,000 jobseekers vying for local and overseas job vacancies from over 300 participating top companies and POEA-licensed agencies.
In last year's Manila career fair, held in June 2012, hundreds of applicants were short-listed and thousands more were kept for reference by participating companies. Engr. Sendrick Valdez, one of the hundreds who got hired, described how he queued up and tried his luck. His patience paid off as he was handpicked for a mechanical and facilities engineer position in a Philippine-based company engaged in manufacturing industrial chemicals and sacrificial anodes for cathodic protection.
Valdez confided how it felt good to hear recruiters say, "You're hired!" and wishes that more jobseekers will experience this positive feeling when they, too, finally land a job.
So mark your calendars and make sure to visit the SMX Convention Center this coming April 1 and 2. Who knows, you might finally find the job of your dreams!
