Hands down, I love Japanese food. I enjoy devouring several pieces of Ebi (shrimp) Tempura, Maki, and Sushi in one sitting plus, one of my favorite soups is Miso. So when I got an invite to try out Karate Kid's dishes at its latest branch in Farmers Plaza in Cubao, I didn't think twice and said yes.
Karate Kid's menu features a combination of Eastern and Western flavors that appeal to the ever-evolving taste of today's consumers. Raymond Yap, Karate Kid EVP, shared that they want to be able to cater to diners' discerning taste with good quality meals that are freshly-cooked and affordable enough to enjoy everyday. "We offer rice-all-you-can and bottomless Kido Punch Tea, Karate Kid's signature drink, to give our diners a more satisfying dining experience."
Aside from their casual approach to Japanese food, Karate Kid combines the American way of serving food quick and easy along with the Japanese tradition of carefully preparing ingredients. True-blue Japanese food lovers like me could choose among various fares such as the katsudon, ramen, California maki, tuna sashimi, chicken/beef/seafood teppanyaki, takoyaki, gyoza, and ebi tempura.
For foodies with more adventurous palates, there are Karate Kid's original culinary creations that creatively combine Japanese and American elements. The Japanese Burger Pasta, for instance, gives an oriental makeover to meat sauce spaghetti by topping it with a mouthwatering Japanese beef patty. The creamy white sauce-based pasta is reinvented in the Japanese Creme Chicken Pasta and the Garlic Shrimp Creamy Ebiko made delectable with juicy tiger prawns.
If you're a burger buff, try their best-selling Kido Master Burger, Karate Kid's house burger made of 100 percent char-grilled Japanese beef patty, and the EbiKatsu Burger. For those who are watching their budgets, there are Blockbuster 99er meals that come with refillable rice to give diners a real value-for-money treat.
