UNIQLO (a Japan Clothing Line) To Open First Store in the Philippines

Heads up fashionistas! UNIQLO, a brand under leading Japanese company Fast Retailing Co., is opening its first retail location in the Philippines this coming June at the Mall of Asia. The launch is aimed to reinforce UNIQLO's rapidly growing retail presence in Southeast Asia following its recent introduction in Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.


The Manila store will feature approximately 1,550 square meters of floor space to provide Filipino shoppers all of UNIQLO's latest fashions for men, women, and kids. The brand's name stemmed from Unique Clothing Warehouse which was shortened to UNICLO and then evolved into UNIQLO.


According to Katsumi Kubota, COO of Fast Retailing Philippines, Inc., Asia offers enormous growth potentional for UNIQLO  and this is a key regional focus of the brand's global expansion strategy. As of January 2012, UNIQLO's network of stores includes 851 branches in Japan, 214 throughout the rest of Asia, and 234 in other global markets such as the U.S., U.K, France, Russia, etc. 


UNIQLO operates an integrated business model under which it designs, manufactures, markets, and sells high-quality, casual apparel in line with its "Made for All" philosophy.
