Enjoy a Cup of Coffee the J.CO Way

I think fans of J.CO Donuts & Coffee will always remember the first time we got to taste this brand's products (read mine, here) and the many times we chose to patiently wait in long queues just to buy a box or two. Personally, i find most of J.CO's donuts really good because they're not too heavy nor too sweet for my taste and I am sure a lot of Filipinos continue to love them like my family does.

For those who haven't discovered it yet, J.CO not only serves mouth-watering donuts but also offers yummy yoghurt and brews cups of delicious coffee in the form of J.COFFEE hand-crafted beverages. In Indonesia, where J.CO originated, the brand is known as a lifestyle café where you can have the best-tasting coffee that's best paired with J.CO's delectable donuts.

J.COFFEE is made using fresh shots of espresso pulled from J.CO's special blend of Italian-roast coffee beans as well as beans from locally-grown and distinct Arabica beans from Sumatra and Sulawesi, both internationally-acclaimed coffee-producing regions.

As a backgrounder, Indonesian coffee stand out for their unique coffee bean characteristics. Sumatra coffee beans, for instance, are picked by hand and processed using the wet-hull method to remove the outer skin of the coffee cherries mechanically. They are then stored for a day to reduce acidity and increase body, making the caffeine rustic and strong.

The southeastern highland of Sulawesi, on the other hand, is where multi-dimensional coffees are grown and could be distinguished by their expansive flavor with full-bodied richness. Similar to Sumatran coffees, the cup profile of Sulawesi has been called deep and brooding, with muted fruit notes and often an overpowering spicy quality.

While the Sumatra and Sulawesi coffees highlight the J.COFFEE cups, J.CO’s special blend used in its espresso shots offers a full-bodied, medium acidity profile with a bitter-sweet citrus note. This makes for a perfect base for hot, steaming cups of coffee especially when sipped in the form of their signature JCoccino, J.CO’s very own version of the cappuccino served warm. I had that along with an Alcapone it is delicious!

Aside from high-quality coffee beans, J.CO also takes pride in the skill and creativity of their baristas dubbed as Coffee Experts who are supported by their Coffee Specialist counterparts from J.CO International in Indonesia. These Coffee Experts are equipped to prepare J.CO’s unique coffee blends and create not only palate-perfect, but also visually beautiful, coffee beverages in the form of craft latte art. It's amazing to see them in action first hand.

J.COFFEE choices range from espressos to iced flavored coffees and one-of-a-kind and refreshing blended coffees like their best-selling Café Avocado, which I've yet to try next time I visit. I heard it's really good. FYI, you'll get a free glazy donut for every J.COFFEE purchase!

If you're living or working in the BGC area, stay tuned because you can satisfy your craving for a fresh hand-crafted J.COFFEE at their newest café concept store opening soon at Forbes Town Center
