Movie Review: Parental Guidance

Every person who has had a child knows that parenting is a series of hits and misses. The learning and discoveries don’t stop even if your son or daughter is already a grown up. We just have to continue wanting the best for our kids and pray that they imbibe all the good values we want them to learn and which we should have consistently showed them by example through the years.

Parental Guidance is an entertaining film about parenting and grand parenting. It may have a lot of laughable momentsbut it also has scenes that are very relatable for everyone at any age whether you’re a kid, a mom or dad, or a grandpa or grandma.

Comedy legends Billy Crystal and Bette Midler play Artie and Diane Decker who were requested to care for their three grandkids while the couple’s daughter Alice (Marissa Tomei) accompanies her husband (Tom Everett Scott) on a business trip. The once-orderly household spins out of control as old and new school parenting methods collide. Watch the movie to see how everything turns out in the end.

There are a lot of memorable scenes that can either make you laugh out loud like the face paint escapade or the light bulb moments between adult and child. They are a joy to watch.

Parental Guidance, by 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros., starts showing in Philippine cinemas on January 16.
