Yahoo! Launches the Purple Hunt 3.0 Family Edition

This October, Yahoo! Philippines, with its co-presenter Globe Telecom, ups the ante of its widely popular Purple Hunt campaign by encouraging families, no longer just individuals, to join and win prizes including a Presidio condominium unit at Lakefront from Camella Condo Homes.

The exciting new promo was launched last October 3 at the Laureano de Trevi Towers in Manila. Dubbed Purple Hunt 3.0 Family Edition, the four-week long online adventure aims to bring family members closer as they explore the Web together, discover the various Yahoo! properties and spend quality time bonding.

The campaign is guided by three values: Pledge together; Surf together; Play together. This treasure hunt will be a fun experience for both parents and their children as they gain more knowledge about the responsible use of the Internet while standing a chance to win lots of cool prizes (please see bottom part of this post for the complete list).

Since Yahoo! also advocates for Internet Safety and makes it a company priority to protect kids by creating tools for safer online experiences, Sonnie Santos, who writes a column at Yahoo! entitled Safety Net, also shared some Online Safety Tips to media guests. For parents, educators, and young adults who want to learn more about minimizing risks online and on mobile devices, log on to Yahoo! Arlene Amarante, Country Ambassador of Yahoo! Philippines, explains that they seek to infuse their campaigns and all that they do with a touch of ‘purple’. “We want to pursue our passion to drive positive change in the Philippines, become an essential part of the life of Filipino families and make a meaningful contribution to the local society,” she said. “The success of Purple Hunt proves that it is more than just an online adventure; it is an extension of Yahoo!’s brand values of being human, innovative, relevant and fun.”

Interested to join? Here’s how:

A family consisting of at least one parent and one child above the age of 13 is eligible to participate in the treasure hunt. To begin, a family member has to follow these steps:

1) Sign up for the Yahoo! Purple Hunt Family Edition at http://purplehunt.com.ph
2) Register the rest of the family’s existing Yahoo! Mail accounts and identify the role of each member, e.g. father, son, etc
3) Nominate a parent/legal guardian who will be the main player for the Purple Hunt game:
4) Create a team name for your family
5) Pledge to Yahoo! Safely. Once the family makes the pledge, a mail will be sent to the primary player (i.e. parent) with a link to unlock the first task

Competition mechanics:

Each participating family will have a set of assignments to complete. The assignments will take treasure hunters through Yahoo! properties and other channels such as social media, mobile, offline and traditional media channels to unlock the clues.

Yahoo! has partnered with GMA Network, Magic 89.9 and Fox International Channels (Fox, Star World, Star Movies, Fox Family Movies, Fox Crime, FX, tvN, National Geographic, Channel V) to reveal clues at various times in the day. The clues are marked by the Yahoo! Purple Hunt logo and will be airing together with safety messages on the radio and TV programs on partner networks.

Steps to winning prizes:

Each sponsor will have special assignments that participants can complete in and stand a chance to win instant prizes, in addition to winning the grand prize – a Presidio condominium unit at Lakefront City, Central from Vista Land valued at P4 million. Other prizes include powered Globe Tattoo broadband sticks, all-expense trip to Bacolod, Iloilo, Cebu, Busuanga, Cagayan de Oro and Singapore from Airphil Express, McDonald’s birthday party packages, MyPhone mobile units and Yahoo! giveaways.
